Nice to meet you! I’m Oriana.

Originally a yoga instructor and meditation instructor, I stepped into the physical therapy world in my assistant program and learned about pelvic health. I immediately knew this was going to be my focus for years to come. Now as a mom, I especially love treating the perinatal population, guiding people through their mothering journey with care and support that is often missed by providers. I love creating educational content through short-form videos and courses as a way to break up the grind of motherhood and full time work. I thank my blessings every day that I am able to do all of this, and I’m so grateful I can share this with you!

Education

I’ll be honest…

After being in the field for 2+ years, I often ask myself why I chose the PTA route over the DPT route, wondering if I made the right decision or not, but every time I ask myself that I remind myself that I did!

It’s something I feel like I need to clarify often when people first meet me though.

Originally I was an art major in San Francisco, and I loved to do yoga and meditation on the side. There was one summer where a few crazy things happened in my life and I had to let my dream being an artist go, so I decided to start teaching yoga. It took me a little while to save money and complete my training, but immediately once I started teaching I knew I wanted to go back to school for Physical Therapy.

The problem was I was already heading into my late 20’s, I was on the way to getting married, and I wanted to start a family in my early 30’s. Because I was an art major at a private art school, none of my credits transferred over and all of my pre-reqs didn’t have anything to do with kinesiology.

That’s when I decided to go the PTA route! It wasn’t just an easy and shorter way out, it was kind of the only option that aligned with my life. Does this make it harder for me to branch off and do my own thing? Yes, but that’s ok. I LOVE what I do, I learn so much from the DPT’s I work with, and I get to do a lot of the same stuff, just with less paperwork and no student loans (yay!).

My job title also leaves me with more free time at home compared to DPT’s who often have to take documentation home, and this free time allows me to get my creative juices flowing on the side, mainly through video content creation.

If I hadn’t gone this route, I wouldn’t have my sweet son already, I wouldn’t have taken my pelvic health training yet, and I wouldn’t have as much experience working with the perinatal population like I do now.

Is there a reason for everything to happen in life? I often believe so! And I’m sure there was a reason you’ve come across my page too. I hope I can be of assistance to you.
